Medicine That Changes Lives
CBN.com The medical clinics held by Operation Blessing save lives in El Salvador. Many people with scarce resources have been able to recover from serious illnesses, thanks to the free treatments.
One of these cases is 9-year-old Vanesa Corvera, who experienced pain and suffering for several months. This normally healthy child experienced intense headaches, a sore throat, coughing, and insomnia. Soon, all these aches began to afffect her daily life to the point of not wanting to play with friends and losing interest in school.
Vanesa lives with her grandparents and her mother, who lost her eyesight as a child. The Covera family has a very complicated economic situation, because months before, the grandparents had become ill, and they were forced to close their tortilla stand and put all the money towards buying medication. This cut off the family income.
When Vanesa’s condition did not improve, her relatives took her for a check-up. However, the medical consultation and treatment did not help, and Vanesa continued to be sick.
Then Operation Blessing held, as part of their work and mission to help neglected communities, a medical camp in their town. Vanesa’s family took her for another examination. The doctor’s diagnosis was rhinitis, and the girl received the proper medicine, and slowly she began to recover.
But Operation Blessing went a step further, giving the Corvera family the necessary tools to re-open the tortilla stand. Now, they can move on and Vanesa will have a better quality of life.
Today, thanks to the medication she obtained through OB’s clinic, Vanesa has finally recovered completely. Her family accepted Jesus because of OB volunteers cared enough to share the Gospel with them.
