Baby's Collapsed Lung Threatens Her Life

CBN.com – INDONESIA - Siti and Agus were excited after the birth of their baby girl. But things were tight financially for the young family. Agus had been laid off, and Siti had been forced to go back to work. But Siti only made about $50 a month as an assistant in a hair salon. Then their baby got sick.
Siti says, “It seemed so hard for her to breathe.”
Media’s condition got worse. Finally a friend gave the couple some money to take her to the hospital. But they weren’t prepared for what the doctor told them about baby Media’s condition.
“The doctor told us that Media had a hernia in her diaphragm and that she needed surgery right away,” Siti says.
Dr. Edward says, “The baby’s spleen and liver had pushed through the hernia and had collapsed her lung. Left untreated, she would die.”
But the young couple had no insurance, no way to save their daughter’s life. So they contacted Operation Blessing Indonesia and asked for help. Within days, Operation Blessing provided the free surgery for baby Media — and doctors repaired the hole in the muscle wall between her abdomen and lungs.
