CBN.com CBN Siam introduced their newly formatted children’s program Pen Dek on TPBS (Thai Public Broadcasting System) on August 3. Pen Dek will air nationwide on a weekly basis at 8 a.m. Airtime is free.
Pen Dek is the new name of CBN Siam’s Kids Only program. The Thai name means “Being a Kid.” Program hosts are actress/singer Karen K. and former Kids Only host Pun-Pun, along with the life-sized mascot “Super Boy.”
Special segments include “Make a Wish” and “English on the Road.” “Make a Wish” selects several children and gives them the opportunity to meet with professionals in a career they would like to pursue and learn what they need to do to succeed. “English on the Road” with Karen K. takes kids to interesting and fun places in Thailand where they have the opportunity to increase their English vocabulary.
Every segment shares Christian values that encourage children to love one another, respect their parents and teachers, learn new life-skills, and become productive citizens. CBN Siam has also developed a follow-up strategy with our counseling center and various special events.
This year’s event theme is “Give Shade to the World” – encouraging kids to care for the environment. Song/dance contests are being held in various cities around the country where teams of students can compete for scholarship money for their school while exercising creativity in their presentations. Testimonies by our hosts and follow-up materials provide a Gospel witness.
After two weeks on the air, Pen Dek has received more than 100 letters from children. Each child who writes receives a personal letter from our counseling department. In addition, regular newsletters with Bible stories and quizzes provide more opportunities and feedback from the kids.
Please pray with us for Pen Dek as we seek to plant the seeds of faith in young lives in Thailand.
