A Light of Hope

CBN.com Although she appears to be timid, Ruth Noemi from San Salvador, El Salvador, is a fighter.  At birth, the doctors diagnosed her with acute osteoporosis, which would require long and painful treatment for her to be able to walk.  Her tight-knit family worked very hard to cover the funds for future medical expenses, but even with their greatest efforts, they were unable to pay for medicine and therapy.

Several doctors tried to help her, but Ruth’s condition could not be treated. She was bed-ridden and to be carried around because her parents could not afford a wheelchair.

By the time she reached 12 years old, it was very difficult for Ruth’s family to carry her.  She lived this way for a long time, until Operation Blessing heard of her need and immediately donated a wheelchair, a gift she had always wanted.

Thanks to the partners that have believed and supported The 700 Club, more than 500 people like Ruth have been given a wheelchair in El Salvador. And for Ruth, it is difficult to grasp that she may never be able to walk, but this donation will allow her to fulfill some of her dreams.

Ruth always dreamed of going to school, but could not attend because transporting her to the institution was very complicated, and there were no economic resources to provide for the school supplies needed to study. Even so, regardless of her limitations, none of this stopped her from deciding to begin her education on her own.  Her wheelchair will allow Ruth to get to school.

Operation Blessing was able to make Ruth’s wish come true, and they also gave her the supplies she needed to go to class and arranged for her to begin the school year as soon as possible.  Now, Ruth’s happiness is immeasurable, because as she puts it, “I can accompany my mom to church, go out, and have a happy life.”
