The Gift of Sight and Beauty

DangliCBN.com Nineteen years ago, a tragic accident left young Dangli with a serious eye injury.  Confused and desperate, her parents abandoned her – likely knowing they had no other way to help their baby.  Subsequently, young Dangli developed leukoma, an opaque quality covering the cornea that leaves the eye looking glassy and vacant.  Her “glassy eye” caused her to look strange and also affected her vision such that she could only see peripherally.  She was the object of scorn and pity.

Dangli was found in remote area of Inner Mongolia and was then sent to the local children welfare institute.  Her world for the next 19 years was at the Children Welfare Institute of Chifeng.

At a young age, it was clear to all that Dangli was an intelligent girl. She was good at singing, dancing, and her piano skills attracted many people’s attention.  However, the loving attention of others was soon replaced by laughter, stares, and gossip when she started school.  The children were cruel, and Dangli grew sad.  The teachers at the welfare institute tried to console and encourage her.  She began to study and work harder than everyone else to achieve in school and prove her worth.

Three years ago, Dangli graduated from a technical school where she majored in childhood education to become a kindergarten teacher.  Her injured eye brought some inconvenience at work, but nevertheless she pursued her desire to teach.  At 20 years old, Dangli still secretly held fast to her dream that she could have beautiful eyes.  She hoped and trusted that she could receive a miraculous cure.

CBN China learned about Dangli through the local Women’s Federation.  The miraculous news came to Dangli – she would have a cornea replacement surgery and have the beautiful eyes she always dreamed of.  Dangli underwent a successful cornea replacement surgery, and she is now able to see again clearly with both of her eyes.

She says she is a blessed young woman and will work harder than before to repay society and the ones who cared enough to help her.  Thank you CBN for the gift of sight and beauty.
