CBN.com In 1978, two sisters were separated.  Ten-year-old Sopham escaped from Cambodia and the Pol Pot Regime and fled to America with her father.   Her 17-year-old sister Sayla stayed behind with her husband and small children.  She hoped that no one from the regime would try to kill her or her family.

Sopham never forgot her sister.  Twenty-six years after they were separated, she returned to Cambodia to see her sister.

“When I came here…I thought I was dreaming, “ Sopham said. “When I first saw her, I was speechless.  And then later on I gave her a hug.”

It wasn’t long before Sopham learned about the lack of fresh water for Sayla and her family.   She desperately wanted to help her sister find a fresh supply of drinking water, but she didn’t have the means herself.  That’s when Sopham talked to her friend Pat who happened to be a CBN partner.

“So when Sopham’s sister didn’t have water, I called The 700 Club, and they found this village,” Pat said.

Pat was very excited when CBN came through for Sopham. Sopham and her sister were able to reunite for the big day, and several CBN partners were also there to take part in the dedication of the new community well for Sayla’s village.

Sopham said, “I am just very grateful for my sister to have clean water -- and not just clean water -- they will know that Jesus sent people like CBN to help put the well here.”

But the help didn’t stop with the well.  Knowing that parasites come from drinking bad water, Operation Blessing provided 10,000 doses of worm buster pills for Sayla’s village and other communities in Cambodia, and  a six-month supply of rice for Sayla’s family.

“It’s a miracle of God to have running water here in this village, and to see the children laughing and playing in the extra water,” Pat said.  “It’s God, and it’s just so neat what He can do.”
