CBN.com - Mrs. Thea and her husband are newlyweds. They live in Keo Bay village, which is east of Phnom Penh city.  When Mrs. Thea saw that their first child was born with a cleft lip, she cried. She did not want to keep her baby because she was so ashamed of him and what her neighbors would think.

The family hoped to get Sothea’s cleft lip fixed, but they could not afford his surgery. They are rice and vegetable farmers, and Mrs. Thea earns only one dollar a day.

One day Mrs. Thea met a local pastor near her village, and she told him about her child’s problem. The pastor knew that this family was very poor and really needed help. The pastor asked many charity organizations in Cambodia for assistance with no success.

When CBN’s staff heard t this news, they asked Mrs. Thea to bring Sothea to the CBN office in Phnom Penh. CBN’s staff arranged a free surgery for Sothea.

Today Sothea has a beautiful smile. His parents are very happy for him.

Mrs. Thea expressed her gratefulness saying, “I would like to thank CBN and donors who provided this help. Thank for caring us while we are staying in hospital. Sothea looks handsome now. I love him so much.”
