CBN.com – It was a mid-summer afternoon with the sun is at its peak, when something sparked a fire at a home in the Brahman Wada village. Villagers ran to escape the flames. Within minutes 30 houses burned to ashes.
That afternoon Sanjay, a carpenter, sensed the burning smell and in a few seconds heard some men and woman screaming out loud, “Fire! Fire!” He left his work and went outside, and he saw houses burning down and people running and searching for water. Every bit of water from the nearby open well was used, but it was too little and too late.
Villagers like Pushpa, Sunjay's wife, were devastated by their loss. Although Pushpa lost her house, she was relieved to see her husband Sanjay and their son.
Fifteen days later India’s Operation Blessing Living Water team visited to survey the damage. Someone in the village had sent in an application requesting a new hand pump. The team realized they needed a bore well and a better supply of water in case of emergencies. By the grace of God, the villagers were blessed with a hand pump in their village.
Operation Blessing India not only quenched their thirst physically by drilling a bore well, but also ignited the spiritual fire by spreading the Gospel for the first time to these villagers.
On the day of well dedication Sanjay said, “No leader stood beside us, but you acknowledged our problem and comforted us and helped us. We are experiencing the love of God from you all, and we consider you as God-sent angels…”
