Help at Just the Right Moment
- Check-up
- New reading glasses
- Free medicine
CBN.com Operation Blessing Nigeria distributed free medicine, reading glasses, and blankets to less-privileged people in Suleja, a town in Niger state (north central Nigeria). Suleja has a high rate of people affected by river blindness and its many people came out for two days to receive free medical attention and reading glasses.
A total of 1,780 patients were treated during the two-day programs with 451 people receiving free reading glasses.
For Maimuna Ahmed, Operation Blessing came at just the right time. Her two sons, Mahmoodand Umar both had eye infections which could have caused them to go blind if they were not treated quickly.
“Every day I watched my sons scratching their eyes which were always watery,” Maimuna said. “My husband could not afford to take them to see an eye doctor because he is a mason/bricklayer and does not earn enough for the hospital bill.”
Thanks to Operation Blessing’s volunteer eye doctors, both Mahmood and Umar were treated and received free medicine! Their mother was very happy and thanked Operation Blessing for coming to the aid of her sons.
“I am so happy that today my children have seen an eye doctor. It would not have been possible if not for you. We thank God for making provision for you to help us,” she said.
