CBN.comYellamma felt hopeless after her three daughters and her husband died. She was all alone.  She had to climb up and down the hill and walk on the rocks for about a half kilometer to get a single pot of water. That’s all she could manage because she was very weak.

Due to the lack of a nearby water supply, she, her husband, and their three daughters, used to walk miles and miles to get water from the river, which was the only source of water for the entire hamlet.  This same river is used for bathing and washing clothes and watering animals.

One day when Yellamma and her three daughters went to fetch water from the river a big flood came and swept away her daughters. Although rescue operations were carried out by professional swimmers, their bodies were never recovered. Seeing her three daughters disappear in front of her eyes within a fraction of seconds left Yellamma in shock.  Her husband could not bear the loss and started drinking heavily until he became ill. A few days later he died, leaving Yellamma alone, depressed, and dejected.

At this time Yellamma, along with other villagers, approached the village leaders to ask for safe drinking water.   But her efforts to convince them were futile.

But Yellamma’s cry was finally heard.  Operation Blessing came to her hamlet in Maharashtra state to show the love of God by drilling a bore well for the village. Yellamma shed tears of joy, and she was filled with gratitude.

Before, she had no hope.  But now Yellamma praises God for the new borewell that provides a safe, nearby supply of fresh drinking water.
