A Helping Hand for Cambodian Orphan
CBN.com Bou Vanda has encountered many of life’s trials at the young age of 14. His father left his mother while she was pregnant with him. She worked hard to support herself and her son for many years even though she suffered with a chronic illness. When Vanda was only 7-years-old, his mother died. His grandmother, Hout Houn, took him under her care even though she was 75-years-old and very poor.
Vanda’s grandmother has no business of her own, but works for her neighbor selling khmer cakes from house to house in their Cambodian village. Hout Houn supports not only Vanda, but her adult son with mental illness on her meager wages of 75 cents a day. Her income doesn’t bring in enough to support them and they often go without many of life’s necessities.
“I am very worry about my grandchild and my son. Because my grandchild is young and I have to support him to study but I have no enough ability to support him. On the other hand my son also have mental problem that can do nothing so I don’t know how to do?” Hout Houn cried as she spoke.
The Bless A Child Project offered through CBN’s Operation Blessing Cambodia became God’s provision for a great need in their lives. Thanks to their help, Vanda’s in fifth grade at Talus Primary School, fed daily lunches, and being schooled.
“This project is very meaningful and very useful and can help to lighten the burden of my family and especially my grandchild’s life. I have no need to worry about his school supplies, uniforms and school fee, especially have good food for him. I want to thank CBN so much for give my grandchild has a chance to study as other kids,” his grandmother said.
Bou Vanda said with a smiling face to OB Cambodia, “I am really happy to be a part of BAC. I am surely enjoy lunch. Thank you for helping me.”
