MEDICAL MISSION
The Miracle by the Riverside
CBN.com Operation Blessing recently braved flooded, collapsed bridges and brought free medicine to several farming communities in north-central Nigeria.
A team of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and a pharmacist treated more than 1,000 patients, and 356 people received free reading glasses during a 3-day medical mission.
“…All that has happened during your visit was a testimony that our God is able and will continue to uphold His people,” Elder Dogara, chairman of the local mission (ECWA) said. “The miracle by the riverside was one of such. No one believed it would be so easy for us to cross over in the 4-wheel drive vehicle, but God did it for His Glory!”
A visibly overwhelmed female patient, 59-year-old Bumi Okeyomi could only utter “God bless you all. God bless you. God bless you,” after she received a free pair of reading glasses and drugs from the OB medical team.
Reaching Those Who Refuse
The strategic border town of New Bussa connects Nigeria with the Republic of Benin. New Bussa is home to a national game reserve as well as a major hydro-electric dam, Kainji Dam. However, communities like New Bussa are impoverished with little or no access to adequate health care.
And nearby Kpemberem Village, a large farm settlement of predominantly Muslims depends on farming and fishing for its livelihood.
“The coming of the OB team to this community will really complement our efforts in reaching out to the Bissa people who have stubbornly refused Christianity,” John Didacus of the Great Commission Movement explained.
