When a team of CBN volunteers arrived to put on a 10-day summer camp for the kids in the Kolinenska orphanage, the terrible state of the children’s shoes was hard to overlook. The team of volunteers quickly decided that if these kids were going to be able to enjoy running around and participating in the camp activities, then they would need new summer shoes.
When Galina, a CBN Orphan’s Promise staff member, approached the orphanage director about purchasing new shoes for all the children, she was overjoyed! “That would be just wonderful! We didn’t have enough money to buy all the children shoes for the summer, and as you can see they so desperately need them. Thank you so much for your desire to help our children.”
After a trip to the nearest city’s market, CBN’s van returned with shoes in all colors and sizes - perfect for every child in the Kolinenska orphanage. The kids were quick to line up and receive their very own new pair of summer sandals, and within moments, old heavy shoes were seen scattered and abandoned across the playground.
Sixteen-year-old Vera smiled as she received the pink pair that she had her eyes on, “thank you for this wonderful gift!”
These Ukrainian children are walking with a lighter step this summer thanks to the support of Orphan’s Promise! People who donate to CBN support camp programs like the one held in Ukraine this summer and meet the needs of vulnerable children and orphans worldwide.
