CBN.com INDIA - Families in the poorest areas of Delhi and Hyderabad rarely seek medical attention. With their minds focused on surviving day to day, having food to eat and finding ways to earn money consume their lives. They cannot afford to go the hospital or the doctor. CBN Operation Blessing India partnered with Smile Foundation to bring medical services to these people.
The doctors and medical staff come rolling in to the most desperate areas on a large, beautiful bus. The bus doors open to provide basic medical treatment, diagnostics, counseling, immunizations, and minor surgeries. The project, called Smile on Wheels sent its first bus on mission to Delhi in summer, 2008. The target area consists of 150,000 underprivileged people who gratefully receive the medical services.
The unique mobile hospital has a team of specialized doctors, nurses and other medical staff along with a well-stocked supply of medicine to treat numerous diseases. The bus is equipped with an examination table, EKG, X-ray machines, a dark room for X-ray development, IV fluids, Centrifuge for pathological tests, Oxygen cylinders and many other diagnostic and treatment tools. The patients are charged either nothing or minimal amounts.
The Hyderabad Smile on Wheels bus made its first mission in 2009, opening its doors to serve a population of 50,000. The medical team focuses on women and children, aiming to spread awareness and knowledge about preventative measures, health and hygiene. They heal the sick and teach families how to stay healthy.
When these buses open their doors, the families pour in from surrounding neighborhoods. All are blessed; those who receive as well as those who give. When you partner with CBN, you help families across the globe receive much needed medical care in the most forgotten neighborhoods. Smile on Wheels brings hope to hurting people, a wonderful example of loving your neighbor as yourself.
Jesus replied, "`You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' Matthew 22:37-39, NLT
