Souen Goes Back to School
CBN.com Souen Vandy is an 8-year-old in the Siam Reap province.
Her family is very poor, so she hasn’t been able to go to school. Instead she helps her widowed mother, Mrs. Souen Sreyron, collect trash every evening. They earn $1 per night.
Souen has two older brothers, but they do not help provide for the family.
Mrs. Sreyron is very ashamed and wishes her daughter had hope for an education and a brighter future.
One day, CBN Cambodia heard about Souen’s situation and decided to help.
With their help, Souen is now under a back-to-school program as a second grader at the Akapei School in the Siam Reab province. She has new school uniform and lots of school supplies. Her mother doesn’t have to worry anymore.
Souen said, “Thank you CBN for helping me!”
