Sang Srey Pao's New Smile

Sang Srey Pao

CBN.comMrs. Savong is a housewife who lives in Cambodia. She is the mother of Srey Pao, a 9-month-old girl.  Mrs. Savong’s husband makes and sells palm sugar in dry season and  works in the rice field during the rainy season.  They have three children.

Sang Srey Pao is the youngest, but she was born with a cleft lip. Mrs. Savong said she was very upset by her daughter’s condition and worried about her future.

Also, the family was unable to help her because they don’t have any money to bring Sang Srey Pao to see a doctor.  Some days when Mrs. Savong’s husband sells palm sugar he can earn about 5,000 riel ($1.20).  But some days he doesn’t earn that much because sales are not good.

One day recently, CBN Cambodia Operation Blessing staff visited Mrs. Savong and her daughter. They told them about a CBN program that could help their daughter with an operation on her cleft lip. The family was much exited to hear that good news and Mrs. Savong really wanted her daughter to have the operation

After the successful operation, Mrs. Savong said, "We are very happy and thankful to CBN that you helped my daughter have the operation on her cleft lip. I never hoped that my daughter could receive this free operation and look good like other children. Now my daughter has a lip like other children.  I am so grateful to CBN. Thank you.”
