THAILAND - In the United States going to preschool is just part of the daily routine for youngsters. But it’s a privilege for some children in one Thailand village thanks to CBN’s Operation Blessing.

“We are very happy to go to school!” Mong Yang Toug says, excitedly.

Mong Yang Toug and his classmate Mew Mew are among the 30 children who attend the Love of Christ pre-school supported by Operation Blessing and affiliated with the House of the Lord Church in Thanoon Village. The program for three- to-five-year-olds helps transform their young lives on many levels.

“We have a good lunch, milk and vitamins,” Mong Yang Toug says.

The teachers feed the students a steady diet of nutritious food, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ while teaching them how to speak and read in Thai, Burmese, and English. This prepares them for public school.

“We have more knowledge and can read and write in Burmese,” Mew Mew says.

The education helps the children tremendously because their parents are poor Burmese migrant workers who moved to Thailand in search of jobs. But like many migrants, they only manage to find employment in construction, labor, fishing or farming. Often children in these families must begin working at age 12 to help out.

“I believe my daughter has a good opportunity to have a good education now.” Mew Mew’s mom says. “When she grows up she will be able to take care of herself.”

Operation Blessing has worked with the Love of Christ School since July 2009 by providing funding for rent and utilities, school supplies, evangelistic activities and special events such as the “Back to School” distribution, and a kids camp.

“We have fun with our friends and have a good opportunity to see and know the love of Jesus,” Mew Mew says.

On top of all that, God is giving the children an extra blessing that’s making a big difference at home too. Parents are noticing the improvements in their children’s behavior and becoming curious about what’s causing it. At the same time the youngsters are freely sharing about all the exciting things they’re learning in school including Jesus. That information is reinforced when House of the Lord Church volunteers drop by the student’s homes for a visit. They share the message of the Gospel with the children’s moms and dads. As a result, some of those adults have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

“We have received a blessing from God,” Mong Yang Toug says.
