World Cup 2010
Sharing the Gospel at the 2010 World Cup
CBN.com SOUTH AFRICA
CBN in Africa is broadcasting a special heart-warming documentary during the World Cup. The half-hour long documentary is called The Prize: Chasing the Dream. It's an inspirational story about soccer heroes from around the world. The testimonies from world class soccer players Kaka, Edmilson, Chris Klein, Marvin Andrews, Reynaldo Parks, Silvano Espindola, Silas Sandra, Austin Delgado and referee Dario Garcia are included. It follows their discovery that the real prize in life is not found in a ball or a game, but in a new life found in Jesus Christ.
CBN Africa has teamed with “Athletes in Action,” which produced The Prize and they've worked with networks that are airing it. DVDs that are translated into 49 languages will be distributed for evangelism outreach and follow-up ministry will also be provided.
There will be 20 Media Ministry Centers in Southern Africa televising 64 World Cup matches from June 11 to July 11. Together with other vignettes that the CBN Africa production department is producing, these testimonies will be shown at half-time when anointed evangelists will also invite people to receive Jesus into their hearts. Your prayers are an essential ingredient for these opportunities.

After the World Cup - Evangelism Reports
Testimony - Two friends, Sechaba and Mohau, invited their whole Football Team (ages 10 - 16) to the quarter-final match between Netherlands and Brazil. After hearing the testimonies of Lucio and Kaka (at half time, just before they were eliminated), the whole team gave their lives to Jesus. They all live in one area of Orange Farms and have cleared a portion of an empty space there that they call their own "Soccer City." They have invited non-church-going teams to play against them on a Sunday Morning. They'll have Church before the match and share the testimonies of the star athletes and their own excitement of their newly found faith in Christ.
Broadcasts - The Prize was broadcast on televison stations in Botswana, South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda totalling 24 separate broadcasts.
Events - Throughout the World Cup, 1,792 video evangelism events were held. Of the 178,405 people in attendance, 25,126 chose to accept Jesus Christ as their savior and 6,482 people rededicated their lives to following Christ.
