Medical Outreaches
The Gift of Sight
CBN South Africa
January 2012
Thelma lives in a secluded part of South Africa, where getting around is difficult.
People have to cross the river on foot in the shallow areas and by boat when the river rises too high because there isn’t a bridge or any real roads.
There’s no clinic or any kind of medical facility in the area either, so when Thelma’s eyesight started going bad, she was worried.
“Reading the Bible is very important to me. So as my eyesight got worse, I thought, ‘I’ll die if I can’t read my Bible anymore.’ I prayed to God for help,” she says.
Then Thelma learned that a medical team supported by CBN had come to the village to help the people. Thelma heard that a neighbor’s eyes had been tested for free at the clinic.
“My prayers were answered!” Thelma rejoices.
After rushing to the place where the doctors were set up, Thelma had her eyes tested and received a pair of reading glasses. At 50-years-old, she is wearing glasses for the first time in her life.
“Now I can read just fine. I’m very happy because I have my spectacles! I want to thank CBN and the doctors for helping me read again!”
Thanks to the generous support of CBN partners, we are able to help people like Thelma. Join us in becoming a partner today.
