SOUTH AFRICA - With music on their minds and Jesus in their hearts South Africa’s Royal Kids group set out to bring a message of hope to people.
Right after school exams ended, 120 children and six teachers from the CBN-funded ministry went on tour. They performed their special program in five cities including Cape Town.
“Arriving in Cere, we were pressed by the community to continue with our presentation and they refused to let us go, also serving our team of 126 lunch!” says Peter Sekhonyane, Royal Kids Ministry Founder.
Designed to teach people about the Royal Kids Ministry through song and dance, the presentation stirred up the crowds. At each stop one of the kids would deliver a message on the gospel and then make an alter call. Both adults and children responded to the invitations to give their lives to Jesus Christ.
“113 adults and 340 children committed themselves to Christ,” Sekhonyane says. “Additionally, 25 people signed to start [a] Children’s Ministry in their respective towns, another specific goal for this successful road show.”
Royal Kids is a ministry that instills biblical values in kids' lives through prayer, praise and godly leadership. It started at the Maranatha Revival Church in Orange Farms, a community near Johannesburg. The afternoon program has grown to 18 centers in the region with more than 5,300 members ranging in age from four to 16 years old whose lives are changing dramatically.
"Before coming to Royal Kids I was stealing money and sugar," one boy said. "But when I came to Royal Kids my life has changed for the better. I don't steal or fight anymore."
Ultimately, ministry leaders hope to help raise up a generation that will change nations. They’re doing it one new member at a time. Arriving safely back at Orange Farms after their road show the kids were shouting out their praises to God for a successful mission. “We can say it was mission accomplished, Sekhonyani says, “and we give God all the honor and the glory!”
