CBN.com – UKRAINE –Since it’s inception in 1998, CBN Ukraine’s concert group has conducted 1,025 concerts, watched by more than half a million children. Each concert revolves around a simple message of God’s truth. The message of being kind to others is depicted in The Old Russian Shoemaker, a Christmas favorite. Other messages include telling the children they are special and that Jesus loves them. Each venue includes a themed message, drama, song, and children’s cartoons. In the past four years they’ve also included a salvation component to the performance and have witnessed more than 22,000 children pray with them to receive Christ.
The concert group’s popularity continues to grow in Ukraine and Germany. In 2010, they held 15 concerts throughout Germany and 11 in Ukraine. At some shows, the children were sitting two to one chair because there weren’t enough seats for all of them. The children are entertained, but more importantly are receiving hope for their future when they absorb the biblical truths brought forth in song and drama. Many of them are already familiar with the cartoon Superbook and show Superbook Club TV that broadcasts regularly in their area.
I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me,” Jesus said in Matthew 25:40.
This passage of scripture is brought to life in a classic Christmas story, The Old Russian Shoemaker. It is a powerful reminder of how God delights in those who help “the least of these,” and is one of several performances CBN Ukraine has given during their Christmas concert tour this year. In the town of Kerch, Ukraine, CBN produced this musical drama three times this year. Each concert was packed with children, 3500 all total; and every child received a gift after the show.
