Another Patriarch Has Passed On

CBN.com For some of you folks who knew Bob Slosser, he has gone on to be with Jesus. The "official" announcement is attached.

Nedra and I have known Bob and his wife Gloria for over 30 years. We first met on Cape Cod in 1971, along with Catherine Marshall, Peter Marshall Jr., Jamie and Jackie Buckingham, and John and Elizabeth (Tib) Sherrill. Jamie and Catherine have both gone on to be with Jesus too. John and Elizabeth Sherrill, subsequently wrote my book Scott Free with me. Writers all, I would suspect Bob, Jamie, and Catherine are comparing notes and straightening out each other's theologies!

At one time Bob wrote a series of columns, The View from Here for our newspaper, Free Love, published from Freeville, New York. In subsequent years I worked for him as a columnist for the National Courier newspaper. He eventually let me go when he recognized my work and ministry had changed.

On one occasion we also broke bread together at Harvard in Boston. In this instance a horsemeat sandwich!

A few years down the road, (1984) as a member of CBN's Board of Directors, Bob sent a letter to me, on Pat Robertson's behalf, inviting me to return to CBN. I had left in 1972. Returning to CBN was God's plan for me at the time, and Bob knew it.

Bob and I continued to work together on various projects here at CBN. He was a good check and balance to the many sides of life we shared together, not just as co-laborers, but as friends. We also had a common love for jazz and literature.

Nedra and I talked and prayed and laughed with him just over a week ago.

Another "patriarch" has passed on. Among his many accomplishments, he leaves a legacy of love. He will be missed.
