The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer -- Steve Little

“He said the Lord spoke to him right before the attack on the convoy and told him to leave the convoy and drive away from it. And as soon as they left, the attack happened…”

Prayer has always been part of our workday at CBN News. Every morning at the close of our editorial meeting, the staff prays for the needs of our colleagues and their families and friends.

With so many of our friends reporting from a war zone these past few weeks, that prayer time has taken on even greater importance. And it’s been especially important for our Lebanese co-workers whose families live in south Lebanon. As the bombs fell on patches of land where they grew up and recognize on sight, we’ve watched -- and prayed -- with them for the protection of their loved ones.

Last week, my friend Abdallah showed me a picture of a smoking field and told me the area was just a mile from his family’s village. Looking at pictures of a road leading into a town, he told me how he’d traveled that particular part of the road many times.

Thankfully, his family is no longer in the area, but his wife’s family is still there. We’ve been in prayer for her family’s protection over the past few weeks, and for the protection of all of our co-worker’s families.

Yesterday, Abdallah sent this testimony:

“Last night my in-laws house was damaged by a missile that hit nearby, fortunately no one was in the house for my father in-law, who stayed behind waiting for his son’s release from the army, had been taking refuge in a church.

Later, his son and 350 others who had been held at the Marjeyoun barracks were given the green light to leave their town. After driving for 45 minutes heading to Beirut through the Bekkaa Valley their convoy got hit. Seven people were people killed and 36 injured.

But my father in-law and his son are safe, because he said the Lord spoke to him right before the attack on the convoy and told him to leave the convoy and drive away from it. And as soon as they left, the attack happened.

We would like to thank you for your prayers. And we ask that you would continue lifting them in prayers because they are going through a lot, with no food, no money and no place to stay.”

We’re glad to report that all of our friends’ families are still safe; and we thank God that He hears and answers prayer.
