JERUSALEM, Israel – The last survivor of the Nazi death camp in Poland, known as Treblinka, has died.

Samuel Willenberg passed away at his home in Tel Aviv on Friday at the age of 93.

Willenberg was 20 years old when he was sent to Treblinka. He had been part of the Polish resistance fighting the Nazis and later helped plan the Treblinka Revolt. He was one of 67 survivors – out of 200 – who escaped.

Willenberg provided historians with detailed drawings of the camp and later wrote about his experiences in a book entitled Revolt in Treblinka.

In 1950, he immigrated to Israel with his wife, Ada, a survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto. Beginning in 1993, the two traveled with youth groups to Poland, sharing their experiences with the young tourists.

The Nazis murdered 875,000 people in the Treblinka Camp in Poland.
