Majority Agree with Carson; Don't Want a Muslim President

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has come under fire for stating he would not support a Muslim for president.

Now, a Rasmussen poll shows that many Americans agree with the retired neurosurgeon.

Fifty-one percent of likely voters say they would not be willing to vote for a Muslim president. Only 28 percent would support a Muslim in the White House, and 20 percent say they are undecided.

"The large number of undecideds suggests that many voters are unwilling to reveal their opinion on what is seen as a controversial topic," Rasmussen said.

Carson has since amended his earlier statement, saying he could support a Muslim who rejected certain parts of Islam.

Carson's fundraising spiked after his original comments.
