Grieving Pastor Says God Spoke to Him About His Wife's Death

Davey Blackburn, the Indiana pastor whose wife and unborn child were killed in a home invasion last month, spoke publically about her death at his father-in-law's church two weeks ago.

Blackburn, who pastors Resonate Church in Indianapolis, explained that the Lord recently spoke to him about tragedy.

He said God told him, "Davey I want my bride to come alive. If I had asked you, Davey, before this if you were willing to give up your bride so that my bride could come alive, what would you have said?"

Blackburn said he told God, "Absolutely not. There is no way."

"The Lord said that's why I didn't ask you the question beforehand, because sometimes when you say 'I surrender all,' you really mean 'I surrender some.' Until you are put in a situation when you have to surrender all," Blackburn said.

He then referenced Ezekiel 37.

"I believe Ezekiel spoke the Gospel of Jesus Christ over that valley of dry bones. The Bible doesn't indicate what he spoke and so we have to kind of fill in the blanks there. But I know there's only one truth that can bring life and that's the light of life, that's Jesus Christ."

"God didn't cause this to happen, but he allowed the breath of Amanda to come out of her so that the breath could be breathed into you and into me so that we could advance the gospel in a way that history books have never even told. And I believe that it's going to come out of this house," Blackburn concluded.

Amanda Blackburn was 28. She was shot in the head during the attack Tuesday Nov. 10 and died the next day. She was 13 weeks pregnant.

The Blackburns also have a 15-month-old son, who police officials say was upstairs in a crib at the time of the attack.
