Hate Crime? Cops Probe St. Louis Church Fires

Police are investigating a series of fires at predominantly black churches in St. Louis.

Since the beginning of October, six churches in north St. Louis have been set on fire. The damages range from a few hundred dollars at one church to near destruction at another.

"The days of the persecution of the Church are here and we're living out those last days," said one church member.

"So it hurts my heart that we're the generation that's going through this and that's experiencing this," the church member said. "However, this reminds me of how much more prayerful we as the body of Christ need to be."

Police are looking for suspects and a motive. They are not ruling out the possibility of this being a hate crime directed at churches or at African-Americans.

A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the culprit behind the fires.
