Judge Rules City Can Block Pro-Life Bus Ad

A federal court has ruled that Fort Wayne, Indiana, can block a pro-life group from buying ads on city buses.

Women's Health Link wanted to advertise its counseling services.

The rejected ad showed a woman's face, and said, "You are not alone." It offered a "free resource for women seeking health care."

But the city's public transportation company, Citilink, said the ad can't run because the group's website addresses "controversial issues."

Alliance Defending Freedom has been representing Women's Health Link in their legal battle.

ADF Legal Counsel Jonathan Scruggs disagreed with the ruling.

"City officials can't run nearly identical ads from other non-profit groups, such as the United Way, and then single out Women's Health Link for censorship," he said.

"Government has a responsibility to ensure that all organizations benefit from community advertising," he continued.
