The American Jewish Committee (AJA) is applauding a new measure that tackles anti-Semitism at the University of California.

The university's Board of Regents unanimously approved a new 12-page policy that combats increasing hostility toward Jewish students and pro-Israel activists on its campuses.

According to the AJC, Jewish university students have faced varying anti-Semitic incidents, including vandalism of Jewish property, racist graffiti, and incitement.

"We commend the UC Regents for taking action against hostility toward Jewish students on UC campuses," Janna Weinstein Smith, director of the AJC's Los Angeles office, and Sarah Persitz, its San Francisco director, both said in a statement.

"We also applaud the Regents for pointing out that some individuals and groups pursuing a virulently anti-Israel agenda on UC campuses have crossed a threshold into discrimination against Jewish students," the statement read.
