A Russian airstrike destroyed a makeshift clinic in Syria supported by an international aid group, according to activists and officials.

A spokesperson from Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said the airstrike killed and wounded several people. Reports say all members of the medical team inside the structure are believed to be dead.

"This appears to be a deliberate attack on a health structure, and we condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms," Massimiliano Rebaudengo, MSF's mission chief, charged.

"The destruction of the hospital leaves the local population of around 40,000 people without access to medical services in an active zone of conflict," he said.

According to the aid group, the hospital had 30 beds and 54 staff members. Activists say the facility was four stories and once was a cement company.

Rescue crews are now working to remove the rubble and search for survivors.
