LIFE
CHANGING
From
Welfare to Work

Bobbyanne loves her boys! She's a committed mom and enjoys teaching
outdoor Sunday school. But for someone who has it all together, years
ago nothing could have been further from the truth.
"One of my promises to myself was I would never marry anyone like
my father. I would never marry an abusive man. I did exactly that.
I married a man exactly like my father."
One day Bobbyanne came across a Christian book that helped her understand
she should not remain in an abusive relationship. She left immediately
and accepted Jesus Christ. She was now alone, raising three boys on
welfare. Who would help this new believer face impossible odds?
Bobbyanne's solution was actually in motion not two blocks away from
her Houston home. A ministry was gearing up to bring hope to Gulfton,
one of the roughest areas of Houston.
And one of the ministries that supports the Children's Activity Center
is Operation Blessing.
Operation
Blessing knows Scott and his team are doing incredible work, like
providing groceries to give to those who need a hand. And the kids?
Well, the staff walks the apartments and invites children to come
to a sidewalk Sunday school held right in their complex. One of the
parents that Scott visited one day was Bobbyanne. He explained that
her boys loved the program and invited her to church. Bobbyanne said
yes. Through the love of a caring ministry, Bobbyanne finally realized
what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
"What really drew me to Jesus was that He did not condemn. When
all the religious people were ready to condemn, the one person who
did not condemn was Jesus."
Bobbyanne's
life changed dramatically. She started teaching God's Word to her
sons and began giving a portion of what little she had to the church.
Soon, she had a full time job at a local car wash and was permanently
off welfare. She married a godly man who is committed to her and her
boys. Bobbyanne also helps with the local sidewalk Sunday schools,
where her boys also help to spread God's message to kids through puppet
shows.
"I don't want to think where I 'd be without the ministry. My life
has totally changed. My life is totally different."
A life was changed because a ministry cared about one lost woman,
and a community is being transformed because someone is there making
a difference. Thank you, 700 Club partners. You helped bring the love
and hope of Jesus to Bobbyanne - changing not only her life, but also
the lives of her boys and of her community. If you are not a partner,
