The McPhersons: Meet the Music Man

– Matt and Sherry McPherson love to give.
Sherry says, “We can’t out-give God. The more we give away, the more He gives to us that we can give away.”
Matt is a gifted inventor. He’s created two diverse products: the Matthews Bow and the McPherson guitar.
His company, Matthews, Inc., is cited by Fortune 500 magazine as being one of the fastest growing companies in the United States.
Matt says giving to CBN is one of the best investment decisions he’s ever made.
“To me as a businessman, I’m always looking for value, and I saw the impact that they were having on lives around the world. I thought I want to be a part of this,” he says.
Matt’s says his unbelievable success comes from divinely inspired concepts.
He revolutionized the bow industry with his new design, and the McPherson guitar started with a prayer. Matt asked God to help him rethink the design of the guitar.
“So in the ‘90s I just said, ‘God, I sense that You’re wanting me to go in this direction with guitars, and I’m asking You for wisdom.’
“So the sound hole placement is different, the bracing is different, and the way the neck is mounted is different. It’s kind of the grand piano of the guitar industry.”
Major entertainers are using Matt’s guitar: Amy Grant, Wayne Newton, Phil Keaggy and Brad Paisley are just a few.
While Matt is active in the entertainment industry in Nashville and Hollywood, one of his favorite TV programs is produced in Virginia Beach -- and it’s called The 700 Club.
“The 700 Club has meant a lot to us over the years because so many times in our lives we’ve heard things that have spoken to us, and we’ve also seen the impact its had on so many lives as far as leading people to Christ,” he says.
Both Matt and Sherry say that their success is directly connected to their giving.
“It’s like God keeps bringing more business opportunity for us to be in a position to give even more,” he says.
Sherry adds, “Our money is God’s money, and so he places a responsibility on each one of us.”
Matt and Sherry agree that it’s important to think about where you give your money.
“As a business man I look for good investment. I think that’s what we want to do; we want to be effective. We’ve got something to give. Let’s give it in a way that it’ll be the most effective. I see The 700 Club as being an effective tool for Christ.”
