Dare We Go There

By Missey Butler

CBN.com - Dare We Go There? I say yes … let’s go there.

I’m speaking about the simple command that Jesus spoke to us in the New Testament when he said:

“But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” (Matthew 5:39)

I’m thinking about this Scripture in relation to war and all that war involves; such as, useless deaths, devastation of land and home, losses of precious freedoms, and the annialation of cultures and races.

Now I recognize that I’m about to enter a real hornet’s nest as far as world opinion, the status quo, being politically correct, rules of national diplomacy, and current gallop polls are concerned.

But do you know what? None of that really matters when human lives are at stake, and when our brothers and sisters are dying senseless deaths every day. The world is spinning closer and closer to its’ own self-destruction because of this madness called "war."

My only interest in sharing these few thoughts with you is for all of us, as  “God’s children” [yes, that’s right all of us, who happen to be created in His likeness, the “Red, Yellow, Black and White" (who are all precious in His sight)] would simply come together and sit down at the feet of Jesus, and really ‘hear” Him when he says:

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)

And yes, it really is that simple, the question we must asked ourselves is … Dare we go there?

“Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18: 3)

“I will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they learn of war anymore.” (Isaiah 2:4)
