(CBN News) - For the first time since he was elected, President
Bush's twin daughters are in the media spotlight. The pair kept
a low profile during their college years. But now they are on the
campaign trail, working to help re-elect their dad. Jenna and Barbara
Bush, now college graduates, have joined their dad on the campaign
trail, this year.
They kidded about it last night onstage, at the Republic National
Convention.
Jenna Bush joked, "Since we graduated from college we're looking
around for something to do for the next few years … kind of
like dad."
The fashionable twins seemed at ease in front of the massive crowd,
even playful, as they introduced their parents.
Barbara Bush said, "You know all those times when you're growing
up and your parents embarrassed you? Well, this is payback time,
on live TV."
This week has been busy for the girls. They attended the Republican
National Convention's first big celebrity bash in Manhattan, as
well as, many other campaign events and parties, bringing a message
to young voters that their parents are, "pretty cool."
Barbara explained that "they do know the difference between
Mono and Bono. And when we tell them we're going to see Outkast,
they know it's a band and not a bunch of misfits."
And they were giving America an inside glimpse of what it is like,
to be in the Bush family.
