Top al Qaeda Operatives Living in Unlikely Places

Is there any area of the world left, besides Antarctica, where Islamic jihadists haven't set up shop? Since 9/11, experts have repeatedly cautioned that Al-Qaeda operates in over 60 countries--from Australia to Malaysia, from Brazil to Belgium, from Ontario to Ohio. And of course, throughout the Middle East, Central and South Asia and North Africa. Given this disturbing fact, it should come as no surprise that for the last 14 years, a top Al-Qaeda operative has been living as a political refugee with his family in frigid, remote Norway. Mullah Krekar, who helped found the notorious Iraq-based terrorist group, Ansar al-Islam, was ordered deported from Norway way back in February 2003 because he posed a threat to national security. Yet he remains there today, awaiting a Norwegian court's decision on the deportation order. And what does Krekar have to say about all this?

"I defend my rights in their court just like Western people defend their rights," Krekar told Al-Jazeera television on August 31. "I am patient like they are patient. But if my patience runs out, I will react like Orientals do." Asked how "Orientals" react, Krekar answered, "I don't want to comment on that."

As if these comments weren't ominous enough, the mad Mullah added this nugget:

"The whole world must see that Jihad...is increasing in its scope with Allah's pardon. This trend represents solidarity in the Muslim community." Krekar added that his fellow jihadists would never rest "until they see Islam's house equipped with Saladin's sable, Mohammed's conquering turban and Osama bin Laden's vision."

That doesn't sound very Norwegian now, does it? Almost makes you long for the battle axes and war whoops of the Vikings who used to rule the country. I'll give updates on Krekar's case as they come. In the meantime, Norway isn't the only Scandinavian nation that's having a problem with Islamic extremism. Check out this disturbing article about Malmo, Sweden's third largest city. Proof positive that jihad is truly global--and that Europe's ultra-liberal "mulitculturalism" has produced a hellish possibility for future generations: Eurabia.
