Radical Islam is Not a Peaceful Religion

Islam is a peaceful, tolerant religion. Jihad simply means "inner struggle." Mohammed was a man of peace and compassion. These and other politically correct pearls of wisdom have been force-fed to the American public ad nauseum by government elites and the mainstream media ever since 9/11 (when, ironically enough, 19 members of the "religion of peace" murdered over 3,000 Americans in cold blood). But the facts, as they say, do not lie. We need look no further then the ongoing Muslim-driven religious strife in Iraq, Kashmir, Bosnia, Chechnya, Sudan, Nigeria, Indonesia, Phillipines, Pakistan, Europe and elsewhere to see that oftentimes those "peaceful" Muslims just don't play nice. The latest Islamic jihadist hotspot is Thailand--yes, Thailand--where for almost 2 years now, Muslim extremists have waged a deadly insurgency against non-Muslims in the country's southern provinces. More on this below, from San Diego's Union Tribune. Note that the title of the article--"Muslim violence destroying economy in southern Thailand"--is refreshingly un-PC, in that it actually identifies Muslims as the perpetrators, rather than using the vague "religious extremists" tag so favored by our liberal friends at the New York Times and Washington Post:

PATTANI, Thailand – The open-air market in this southern Thai city falls eerily quiet on Fridays. Most vendors stay home, terrorized by leaflets threatening to kill or cut off the ears of anyone who works on the Muslim holy day.

After 20 months of insurgent violence, the no-work threat has driven another nail into what is becoming an economic coffin in Thailand's terrorized southern provinces.

"My business has been bad as customers are afraid to come out," said Thanchanok Putroy, 39, chopping up a catfish in the market where most stores were shut and buses aren't running.

Among the hundreds killed in the predominantly Muslim provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat are police and soldiers, but police records show that 80 percent are civilians – rubber tappers, shopkeepers, civil servants, construction workers and ice cream vendors.

Bombs have exploded at a department store, a cinema complex, the international airport at Hat Yai and a department store owned by the French Carrefour chain. Now investors and tourists have been driven off and some workers are leaving.

"Trade has dropped 70 to 80 percent. Shopkeepers complain loudly. It is very quiet at night and people from outside dare not to come to the area," said Panya Ongsakul, chairman of the three provinces' chamber of commerce.

According to a recent article in the Tapei Times, these Thai terrorists are receiving aid from Al-Qaeda-linked groups in Southeast Asia:

Now, southern Thailand is the bloodiest killing ground for Muslims after Iraq. The death toll from bombings, beheadings and drive-by shootings tops 1,000 people in an insurgency with some links to Islamic militant groups in next-door Malaysia and Indonesia, including an al-Qaeda ally.

And that's not all:

Involved in the violence are Thai Muslims trained in Libya and Syria, who fought beside Indonesian, Filipino and other Asian militants against Soviets in Afghanistan in the 1980s. The veterans maintain ties with their comrades-in-arms and may be getting updates on terrorist technology, said Police General Jumpol Manmai, who heads the National Intelligence Agency.

But never fear, everyone. All of this has absolutely, positively nothing to do with Islam. In fact, these heinous acts are being carried out by a small handful of extremists who have hijacked a peaceful religion and distorted its teachings. Or at least that's what out "tolerant" and "enlightened" elites in media and government circles keep trying to convince us. In the meantime, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
