Melissa Busekros at Home: Day 2

April 24, 2007

As of this writing, German authorities had not moved in to take Melissa Busekros from her family. As I wrote yesterday, Melissa turned 16 on Monday and simply walked out of her foster home and went to her parents’ home in Erlangen. I was tempted to write “authorities have not moved in YET” because I have trouble imagining that officials will allow this situation to stand, especially after all the heavy-handed tactics they’ve employed so far. Perhaps they’re tired of the pummeling they’ve taken over this issue from around the world. I’m told the local police are watching the house and a local German TV has been hanging out there, perhaps hoping to film another SWAT raid. I’m told the mayor of Erlangen has received a lot of messages urging restraint. I hope to visit the Busekros home next week.  Our original story on Melissa is here.

A few of you have said that you cannot view the photos of Melissa in yesterday’s post. I’ll post all of them again here, and some extras. I am able to see the photos on different computers, so I can only suggest that you check your browser security or perhaps even pop-up blocker settings.
