CWN.com - There is some good news from a place where Christians have been under fire lately: Baghdad
Iraqi Christians and Muslims raised the cross over St. John's Chaldean Church in the Dora Farms district of Baghdad this week.
The church had been closed for more than six months because of fighting in the area. on hand for the re-opening were U.S. soldiers from a 'chosen company.'
The Iraqis thanked the troops for helping restore peace to their neighborhood.
Journalist Michael Yon told CBN News that people who had fled their homes are starting to return.
"A lot of the Christians have moved, for instance, over to Syria, to Jordan, up to the Kurdish north," he said. "People in these neighborhoods say they've been calling - not just the Christians, also Muslim neighbors have been calling - 'Hey is it as good as I'm seeing on television?'"
"And the local people are saying, 'Yeah, this neighborhood is safe or this neighborhood is not safe," Yon continued. "But many of the neighborhoods here in Dora are becoming safe very quickly and so the people are starting to move back."
Yon added that ordinary Iraqi Muslim's he's spoke to say they want the Christians to stay in Iraq.
A caring friend will be there to pray with you in your time of need.
