Christian Teen Event Draws Protests in CA
CBN News
CWNews.com–A teen event drawing 22,000 Christian teenagers organized to stand for biblical morality and against the immoral media was met with much protest in San Francisco last weekend.
City leaders and residents condemned the BattleCry rally and Christian rock concert at AT&T Park Friday for having an anti-gay message. One opposing group claims that the teens at the event are being manipulated to believe in a literal and intolerant faith in Christianity.
Demontrators were also seen facing off with hundreds of Christian teens over the BattleCry event outside the San Francisco's city hall.
Saturday and Sunday rallies and worship services at the ballpark drew further condemnation. The worship service taking place at AT&T Park Saturday morning was prohibited from using the stadium's sound system by local officials. Enabling the teens to hear the service on their portable radios, a radio station in San Francisco broadcasted the worship service.
Instead of falling into the immoral culture endorsed by the media, teens at the events are being encouraged to stand up and begin their own Christian culture rooted in the Bible.
Messages from Ron Luce and former Newsboy Phil Joel, as well as musical performances from Skillet, P.O.D. and Casting Crowns were to be heard at the Saturday event, which was estimated to draw 22,000 teens.
Last year, a resolution was passed by the Board of Supervisors condemning BattleCry.
