A nurse in Maine is challenging that state's demand that she quarantine herself at home for 21 days following her work in West Africa's Ebola hot zone.

Nurse Kaci Hickox warned she is prepared to sue.

"If these restrictions are not removed for me by the state of Maine by tomorrow morning, Thursday morning, I will go to court to attain my freedom," Hickox said in video recording at her home in Maine.

Maine is one of nine states with stricter guidelines for those returning from West Africa and state police are monitoring Hickox's movements.

On Wednesday, she defied the mandatory quarantine and came outside to speak with reporters in her front yard.

Hickcox has not tested positive for Ebola, but many residents of her tiny hometown are still scared. Ten people cancelled surgeries at the local hospital, worried Hickox would get sick and show up.

Her quarantine will officially end Nov. 10, but her lawyer says she is not going to cooperate.

Hickox is the same nurse who challenged New Jersey's governor when she was placed in isolation upon her arrival at Newark Airport last week.

As this fight unfolds in Maine, a Georgia school quarantined a Spanish teacher in metro Atlanta on Wednesday.

School administrators made the move after learning the teacher's husband returned home Monday from travel to an area of West Africa facing the Ebola outbreak.

A school district spokesperson said the teacher needs to be medically cleared before returning to the classroom.

The district is now working on the case with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the state's health department.
