JERUSALEM, Israel -- The Palestinian Authority appears to be gaining international support to force Israel to return to the pre-1967 armistice lines, re-divide Jerusalem and uproot Israeli towns and cities in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), the Golan Heights, the Jordan Valley and beyond.

World leaders gathered for a conference in Cairo on Sunday to raise funds for the Gaza Strip called on Israel to redraw its borders to the pre-1967 armistice lines, some saying its "occupation" of "Palestinian lands" is responsible for not reaching an agreement with the Palestinian Authority.

"We must not lose sight of the root causes of the recent hostilities: a restrictive occupation that has lasted almost half a century, the continued denial of Palestinian rights and the lack of tangible progress in the peace negotiations," the Jerusalem Post quoted U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. "

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called for a return to Saudi Arabia's 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, based on a return to the pre-1967 lines in exchange for Arab recognition of Israel's right to exist. The agreement also calls for a "just solution" for Palestinian "refugees."

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said America remains committed to renewing negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority because the "status quo" is "unsustainable."

Russia, meanwhile, said it will back the P.A.'s initiative to set a deadline of November 2015 for a two-state solution based on an Israeli withdrawal to the armistice lines.

Participants at the conference raised an additional $5.4 billion to rebuild areas in Gaza damaged by Israeli airstrikes on the terror infrastructure during last summer's military confrontation with Hamas.
