Dems Use Weakened Filibuster to Push Obama Picks
09-08-2014
Senate Democrats are aggressively pushing President Barack Obama's judicial nominees through the chamber.
The move comes as the party faces November elections that could see Senate control go to the Republicans.
Such a development would make it harder for Obama to win approval for judges during his final two years in office.
Last November, Democrats made it harder for Republicans to use filibusters to derail nominations.
Before the filibuster was weakened, the Senate filled 36 judgeships in the first 11 months of 2013. Since then, the Senate has confirmed 54 of Obama's judicial choices.
