Mexico's government will start issuing birth certificates to its citizens at consulates in the United States.

The move is aimed at helping Mexican immigrants living in the United States illegally. It would help them apply for work permits and driver's licenses and protect them from being deported.

The news comes as Republicans are trying to pass legislationreversing President Barack Obama's executive order on immigration.

On Wednesday, House Republicans passed a bill that could lead to the deportation of thousands of young immigrants from the United States.

The bill is now headed to the Senate.
