Florida and Arizona approved measures that define marriage as the union between one man and one woman.

In other ballot measures, South Dakota voters rejected a measure that banned abortions except in the cases of rape, incest and serious health threats to the mother.
Colorado voters rejected a proposed state constitutional amendment that defined life as beginning at fertilization.
And in Washington state, a measure to provide doctor-assisted suicide for the terminally ill was approved.
