CWN.org - California's Proposition 8 to ban gay marriage sailed to victory this week. Two other states also voted to protect traditional marriage.

Florida and Arizona approved measures that define marriage as the union between one man and one woman.

In other ballot measures, South Dakota voters rejected a measure that banned abortions except in the cases of rape, incest and serious health threats to the mother.

 Colorado voters rejected a proposed state constitutional amendment that defined life as beginning at fertilization.

And in Washington state, a measure to provide doctor-assisted suicide for the terminally ill was approved.
