A federal jury in New York found a radical Islamic cleric guilty of supporting terrorism around the world.

Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, also known as Abu Hamza Al-Masri, was found guilty of aiding terrorist organizations, including al Qaeda.

The 56-year-old cleric was also convicted of conspiring to kidnap Americans in Yemen and planning to establish a jihad training camp in rural Oregon.

Al-Masri carried out his activities from London, but was extradited to the United States for trial.

Preet Bharara, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, applauded Monday's verdict.

"The defendant stands convicted, not for what he said, but for what he did," he said. "Abu Hamza was not just a preacher of faith, but a trainer of terrorists."
