The Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in California is hosting the annual conference for the American Studies Association, a group that has chosen to endorse a Palestinian-led boycott of Israeli academic institutions.

The ASA says the boycott "underscores in particular the need for a deeper engagement with the constitutive history of U.S. policies and practices not only in Israel/Palestine but also across the entire region, including Iraq and Syria."

However, California law prohibits discrimination on the basis of national origin, race and religion.

The American Center for Law and Justice is now calling on the Westin Hotel to "take steps to ensure that the ASA will not enforce its anti-Semitic policy during its annual meeting scheduled for November 4-9.

The law firm sent a letter to the hotel, giving them five days to respond or face legal action.

"Simply put, we're demanding that the Westin obey California law," ACLJ Senior Counsel David French said.

Is there more to the boycott than meets the eye? David French spoke with CBN News, Oct. 17.
