Baltimore residents are mourning the loss of the young man who died a week ago in police custody after sustaining serious injuries.

Funeral services for 25-year-old Freddie Gray will be held Monday at New Shiloh Baptist Church. This follows a wake Sunday where a steady stream of mourners filed for hours past Gray's silk-draped, white coffin.

A separate service at Baltimore's Empowerment Temple on Sunday called for justice in Gray's death.

Pastor Jamal Bryant expressed to the congregation that somebody is going to have to pay for the death of Gray.

"Even before criminal charges are levied on the six officers, we have enough evidence that would suggest somebody is going to have to pay," Bryant said. "To handcuff and taser him while he demonstrated no threat. Somebody going to have to pay."

There are reports Gray was arrested after he made eye contact with officers before running away. Some have said officers held him down, handcuffed him and loaded him into a van.

Officials said while inside the van, the 25-year-old became irate and officers then placed leg cuffs on him.

Gray was was transported without a seat belt during his trip to the station.

Sunday's calm in Baltimore was a far cry from the chaos Saturday night. That is when six days of peaceful protest erupted into anger.

Demonstrators smashed into a bank building and flipped security vehicles.

The mayor and church leaders stood together and called for peace.
