Bitterly cold temperatures continue to grip much of the U.S. Friday.  This is the coldest it's been in 20 years.

Temperatures dipped to near zero in the Midwest, Northeast and even the South, where folks aren't used to the snow and ice they've been dealing with this week.

The harsh conditions have forced massive school closures, driving hazards and runs at stores on winter necessities like shovels, space heaters and anti-freeze.

Many cities such as Washington, D.C. and Baltimore set record low temperatures.

In Embarrass, Minnesota, Thursday's temperature hit 41 degrees below zero, without the wind chill factor.
