Some experts are calling the pope's U.S. visit the biggest security operation in the history of the country.

"It is all hands on deck," Paul Abbate, head of the FBI Washington Field Office, told CBS News. "I would say it's one of the largest, if not the largest special event we've ever seen here."

"No one can say with 100 percent certainty that you can stop everything, but there are steps you can take to minimize any opportunity for anyone to commit any kind of acts," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said.

Pope Francis will be in the United States for six days, visiting three major cities.

He'll start off in Washington, D.C., where he'll visit the president and speak to Congress.

What does the Catholic community in the U.S. hope the Pope's visit will accomplish? Arina Grossu answered this question and more.

Then he'll go to New York Thursday, where he'll celebrate mass in Madison Square Garden.

Finally on Saturday, he'll hold a prayer gathering with the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia and celebrate another mass with a crowd expected to number more than 1 million people.
