The hunt for the man who murdered a Mississippi college professor ended in the suspected gunman's suicide Monday night.

Shannon Lamb, 45, jumped from his car and ran off to escape the police. Minutes afterwards, officers heard a gunshot and later found his body with a bullet wound in the head.

Lamb is believed to have killed Delta State University professor Ethan Schmidt in his office, prompting a campus-wide lockdown.

In a search of Lamb's apartment, police discovered the body of Amy Prentiss, a woman who lived with him.

Police have not yet discovered a motive for the killings.
